A creche in Co Limerick has confirmed a Covid-19 case as an urgent letter was sent to parents.
Officials at the pre-school notified the parents and guardians of pupils on Monday.
The creche is located in the west of the county.
A HSE letter reads: "A confirmed case of Covid-19 in your child's creche has been notified to the Department of Public Health HSE Mid-West.
"A public health risk assessment has been undertaken and the parents of any children deemed to be close contacts of the confirmed case will be contacted and advised accordingly.
"If you child is not identified as a close contact, your child does not need a test for Covid-19, they can continue to attend school and no further actions are needed."
However any children who later develop symptoms of Covid-19 are advised to contact their GP.
It comes after it emerged yesterday that a coronavirus case had been confirmed at a large secondary school in Co Kildare.
Kildare Town Community School, which has close to 1,000 students, announced on Sunday that a pupil had tested positive for the bug.
They said the HSE had informed them of the case over the weekend.
School officials insisted that all close contacts had been identified and informed.
The school remains open and any pupils who are not identified as close contacts can continue to attend as normal.
While any children who develop Covid-19 symptoms are advised to stay at home and contact their GP.
A letter sent by Principal John Hayes reads: "Over the weekend the HSE has been in contact with the school in relation to a positive Covid-19 case. The HSE has guided KTCS through the actions that needed to be taken to protect staff, students and our school community. A Public Health Risk Assessment has been carried out and is now completed.
"As part of this risk assessment, all close contacts were identified, contacted and advised of their next steps. Close contacts have already been advised not to come to school, in line with HSE Public Health advice.
"If Public Health has not made contact with you, you are not impacted and can continue to attend school. All close contacts have been identified and are now restricting their movements for 14 days.
"The school cannot comment on individual cases or outbreaks of Covid-19 to protect the privacy and confidentiality of those involved.
"If your child develops any symptoms consistent with Covid-19 (such as a cough, a fever, loss or change in sense of taste or smell), please do not send your child to school, contact your GP and begin restricting your child’s movements, as per public health advice."
