An Irish animal welfare charity contacted the gardai after a video of a German Shepard being attacked emerged online.
Limerick Animal Welfare contacted gardai after the clip showed the dog being hit multiple times at a halting site on Ballysimon Road.
The dog can be seen jumping in pain in the footage.

The dog was surrendered to the charity and was taken to a vet for a check up and treatment.
Limerick Animal Welfare said: “Horrific abuse just reported to the page...Limerick Animal Welfare have reported to the Guards."
And added an update: “Limerick Animal Welfare have entered the site with the guards and the female German Shepherd dog is now surrendered to Limerick Animal Welfare.
“She is currently on the way to the vet’s for a check up and veterinary treatment."
A garda spokesperson said that they found no evidence of animal cruelty.
They told the Irish Sun: “Gardai are aware of a video circulating on social media and can confirm that after carrying out enquiries there is no investigation into any animal cruelty."
