A person’s parking ability is a hotly contested skill.
For some (me), it can be the difference between a second date and being ghosted (when a man hits that over-the-shoulder reverse, there’s no better aphrodisiac). For others like our good friend Timothée Chalamet, they seem to view the parks as more of a Vivienne Westwood pattern than a road rule. Stylish as heck but orderly? I think not.

Thankfully, someone is finally rewarding us good parkers out there.
Lime, the company behind everyone’s fave bikes and scooters, is calling time on bad parking behaviour. They’ll be sending out their parking inspectors but instead of punishing the bad, they’ll be fining for good. Taking to the streets of Bondi, they’ll hand out some lime green rewards for those of us doing the right thing.

So, what are the deets and more importantly, how the hell should you be parking?
What are the details?
Head down to Bondi and park your LimeBike CORRECTLY on Wednesday, the 22nd of April to be fined by one of the Lime Parking Wardens.
That’s right. This time, rather than running from parking inspectors, be sure to call them over and have them inspect your bang-up parking job. The inspectors will be roaming around Hall Street and Campbell Parade, so if you’ve got to park, make sure it’s there.

According to Lime’s Senior Operations Manager, Lara Nickless, responsible parking is of great importance, as well as ensuring e-bikes serve the whole community. “We know most of our riders park responsibly, and we want to show them how important it is to maintain this with gratitude from us,” Lara said.
What does a fine get me? You’ll nab a bunch of free Lime minutes, with the first 100 people also grabbing lunch on the house at local legend, Gertrude and Alice Café Bookstore. The café is celebrating its 25th year up and running, which means you’ll be getting a lunch valued at $25 to match!
What makes a good park?
Lime knows a thing or two about parking faux pas. In fact, I reckon anyone on a night out will have fallen victim to a poorly parked scooter or two in their time. When it comes to parking, there are some pretty easy-to-follow rules that keep footpaths safe and vehicles upright.
Keep the footpath clear for locals.
People need to walk, so you have to leave a minimum of one space on the footpath for pedestrians and other road users.
Stay out of the way!
No one wants a LimeBike or Scooter blocking their business, their parking spot or their favourite restaurant. An easy fix is to keep them to the side or in designated areas.
Use the kickstand.
They have one for a reason. Heavy rains, winds or even the overly jubilant passerby could knock one over but the mighty kick-stand will keep it upright and safe for all.
If you’re like us and carry your parking prowess like a point of pride, you stand the chance to take on the Lime parking inspectors and win.
Head down to Bondi this Wednesday and keep an eye out for the bright green vests. It’s not Brat summer anymore; it’s Lime summer now.
