Lily Rose Depp's account of her upbringing is as relaxed as you might expect from the child of such bohemian parents.
The 17-year-old daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis appears to have managed to maintain a semblance of normality after years of growing up in the spotlight created by having a father who is one of the most famous actors in the world.
The attention paid to the Depp-Paradis family was recently exacerbated by her father’s acrimonious divorce from Amber Heard.
But while many teenagers living in the public eye have made headlines of their own with reports of bad behaviour, Lily said she has never rebelled against her insouciant parents because there were few rules in place for her to rebel against.
“My parents weren’t very strict,“ she told Vogue magazine. ”They’ve always trusted me to be independent and make my own decisions. There wasn’t really anything to rebel against.”
After being chosen as a face of Chanel, Lily is already gracing the cover of Vogue. The supermodel Cara Delevingne was 22 and more than six years into her modelling career when she landed her own solo cover, the most coveted spot in fashion.
Lily also discussed her use of social media, saying she never enjoys using it “in a personal way”.
Her interview comes after she defended her father in an Instagram post praising him as the “sweetest most loving person I know” after abuse allegations were made against Depp by Heard.
