Lily is the star of the show as she celebrates becoming a teen with supercar parade through Perth

Perth cancer fighter Lily Douglas had a birthday to remember on Sunday.

The 13-year-old celebrated becoming a teenager with a special car parade through the city.

Locals - many dressed in pink - turned out in force to line parts of the route with Lily the star attraction despite the supercars on show.

Residents told to take personal responsibility for wearing face coverings

The parade took Lily to the Atholl Palace Hotel in Pitlochry, where she enjoyed afternoon tea.

It had been organised by family friend Kenny McLeod.

He said: “What a magnificent day, thanks so much to the wonderful people of Perth who came out in their hundreds adorned in pink to wish Lily Douglas a happy 13th birthday.

“A pleasure to be part of such a wonderful occasion.”

Lily was diagnosed with Ewing’s Sarcoma when she was nine.

Not seeing family and friends ranked as the worst aspect of the lockdown

After undergoing intensive treatment, she was given the all clear in 2018, but her family then got the devastating news the cancer had returned to her lungs.

Because of her condition, she has been unable to see many family and friends during the pandemic and also suffered a stroke.

But she is now on a new clinical trial at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London.
