Lily Gladstone, the 37-year-old star of 'Killers of the Flower Moon,' is gearing up for this year's Oscar season with advice from veteran actress Cate Blanchett. Nominated for her first Academy Award for her role in the Martin Scorsese film, Gladstone shared that Blanchett recommended keeping up on adaptogenic mushrooms as a self-care ritual during the hectic lead-up to the Oscars.
Blanchett, a two-time Oscar winner, surprised Gladstone with this advice during a chance encounter at one of the awards show circuits. Despite expecting acting tips, Gladstone, who has idolized Blanchett since her teenage years, found the advice valuable and easy to incorporate into her routine.
In addition to the mushroom advice, Gladstone revealed that she will carry lucky charms on Oscars night to help calm her nerves. Among these charms are a coin gifted by U.S. Secretary of the Interior Debra Haaland, with whom she shared a special moment after winning a Golden Globe in January.
Gladstone, the first Native American to earn a Best Actress Oscar nod, will also bring along the Wilma Mankiller Quarter and the Maria Tallchief Quarter, honoring trailblazing indigenous matriarchs who have made significant contributions in their respective fields.
The 96th Academy Awards, hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, will be broadcast live on Sunday, March 10, from the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California, starting at 7 p.m. ET.
