Lily Allen teases surprising new career with sassy response to 'management drop'

Lily Allen was ready with a sassy response when she was quizzed about reports she's been dropped by her management.

And at the same time, she teased that she could have a surprising new career on the horizon.

Lily took to Twitter to announce, seemingly out of nowhere, that she was going to get into politics.

"Might run for MEP," she said.

But one fan was a lot more interested in the recent reports she's been dropped by her management company.

They replied to her post, asking: "When is your mgmt going to set the record straight on this "dropping you" thing?"

The singer sassily responded: "Ask them @iemusic," tagging their official account as she did it.

It was reported in The Sun that Lily and IE: Music had parted ways after her comeback album No Shame failed to shift as many copies as bosses had been hoping.

A source said: "IE: Music had thought they would be a match made in heaven with Lily but it has proved the opposite. Her album was a disappointment when it came to sales, peaking at just No8 in the charts.

"She also struggled to sell tickets for the American leg of her No Shame tour last year — and pulled out of two dates, in Chicago and Minneapolis, due to an inflamed throat and vocal cords."

The insider went on to claim that Lily "isn't always the easiest" person to work with.

They added: "There were some disagreements with her management and they decided it was best for them to go their separate ways. IE: Music could have really helped her build her commercial success back up."

Lily is no longer listed on the company's official website as one of their artists.

They continue to represent Robbie Williams and his wife Ayda Field, Cher Lloyd and Lemar, along others.

If Lily is serious about becoming a Member of the European Parliament, it seems she could stand as an independent candidate if she puts down a deposit of £5,000.

Some of her fans were into the idea.
