Lily Allen posted a crying-with-laughter emoji over a meme which suggested Princess Diana was angry over Prince Philip joining her in heaven.
She later lashed out at "trolls and bots" who flocked to her Twitter over her response to the Duke of Edinburgh's sad death on Friday.
The offending meme was posted on Saint Hoax' Instagram and showed Super Nanny Jo Frost closing the door on a crying toddler with the caption: "Princess Diana when Philip tries to enter heaven.
Mum of two Lily, 35, commented: "I'm dead at the Diana one" - adding a crying-with-laughter-emoji.
Presumably after being trolled for her comment on Instagram, the Smile singer wrote: "Oh, Prince Philip has died"- adding a "lot of trolls and bots out tonight."
"#RIP Prince Phillip you would have loved late stage surveillance capitalism."
Fans continued to comment on the star's Twitter, with one asking: "Classless lily, thought better of you than that ! Why bother?"
She swiftly replied: "I assure you I am even more depraved than you could possibly imagine."
Other fans rushed to defend Lily, with one tweeting: "Almost as if people are waiting for you to put a foot wrong." Another seethed: "Don't you have any respect?"
Saint Hoax, an artist with 2.7million Instagram followers has clocked up over 4,800 comments since it was shared with Lily's comment getting 19 replies.
