Lily Allen admits feeling uncomfortable with self led to sex struggles

Lily Allen wishes she masturbated more before losing her virginity.

The singer, 35, candidly spoke about her sex life during an appearance on the You Come First podcast hosted by Love Island's Megan Barton Hanson.

The mother-of-two, who has her own line of sex toys, shared that she used to struggle to reach climax during masturbation and sex as she did not feel "comfortable" with herself.

The hitmaker added that she was not committed to knowing her own body - which she wishes she did before having sex.

Lily's admission came after glamour model Megan asked: "I get asked all the time if I have any tips for solo pleasure. Do you get that?"

The hitmaker shared: "I found pleasuring myself really difficult in many areas of my life - bar drugs and alcohol which I find easy...

"But I find it difficult to find the space and time to connect with myself as ultimately I didn't feel comfortable with myself. I felt very separate from my body so it was difficult to connect. I can give advice to women and girls who feel like I did...

"All I can say is commit to it. I always thought I don't deserve this so didn't think I could reach climax. I told myself I was one of those people who can't come, because I didn't commit to it."

Lily added: "We didn't talk about sex in my family it wasn't forbidden or religious. We weren't open about these things so I just followed what was on TV and movies You lie down and make funny noises and orgasm."

Revealing that she wishes she spent more time masturbating before losing her virginity, she added: "They talk pregnancy, STIs and periods so my only experience of women's pleasure was from porn. I wish I knew my own body before having sex."

It isn't the first time Lily has spoken frankly about her sex life.

Speaking to Dazed Digital in October, Lily discussed her relationship with orgasms and how sex toys made such an impact on her pleasure.

She said of having orgasms: "It wasn't until my mid-twenties. I wasn't very committed to self-love in that part of my life.

"Like, I’d never reached climax with a partner, probably because I was so drunk when sleeping with people that I became desensitised to feeling something.

"When it came to masturbation, I wasn't persistent enough, I just gave up. I felt weird trying to give myself pleasure, it didn't feel like something that felt natural to me.

"Then I discovered sex toys and it broke the barrier of intimacy with myself."

Lily married Stranger Things star David Harbour in Las Vegas, earlier this year, after having dated since summer 2019.

She is mother to two daughters - Ethel, eight, and Marnie, seven - from her marriage to Sam Cooper, who she divorced in 2018.
