Forgive me if I'm a bit slow on picking this up, but I've only just seen that Boris Johnson actually has invited Lily Allen to talk to him about knife crime.
If they hadn't kindly released pictures of this high level summit, I'd not have believed it of course.
Lily - you may remember - made a comment on her blog about knifing people not being very nice and maybe there being some concert or similar to raise awareness. Very Geldof.
Did anyone, even Lily herself, really think that when she wrote "Boris if you're listening get in touch", then the Mayor (who hasn't exactly had the smoothest of rides in recent weeks) would?
Personally I think Lily is probably not as silly as some of Boris's other friends (Darius Guppy, anyone?), so maybe I oughtn't be too incredulous. Plus inviting showbiz types to political get togethers isn't exactly new. But it's now clearly the age of blogpower and I look forward to all sorts of other famous people stating the blindingly obvious on the internet and then getting invitations to meet people who really ought to have better things to be doing.
Pictures will be good for both of them, of course.
