Lily Allen has opened up about her “tricky” 40th birthday after her split from husband David Harbour.
The Smile hitmaker, who turned 40 on on Friday, May 2, hinted that she has been struggling with the breakdown of her marriage to the Stranger Things actor, 50.
The couple split in December - five years after tying the knot in Las Vegas - amid claims they had been living separate lives for months.
In January, Lily was reportedly "in agony" after discovering the American Netflix star had an active profile on celebrity dating app Raya and in March it was claimed that Harbour "had a three-year affair" during their marriage. He has not commented on the claims.
Amid her heartbreak, the singer celebrated her milestone birthday with a group of her closest friends and family with a lavish alfresco lunch.
She posted a photo of her birthday cake, which read ‘Lily 40’, and tagged her loved ones including her Miss Me? podcast co-host Miquita Oliver and fashion designers Kim Jones and Katie Hillier, as well as Miquita’s mum Andi Oliver.
“Thank you to all my beauty friends and family who showed up for me and made my birthday a special one under some tricky circumstances,” Allen wrote in the caption. “Love you all.”
The musician - who has an account on OnlyFans - also shared photos of herself in a sheer top, writing: “Happy Birthday to me.”
Allen’s godmother Rose Boyt – the daughter of artist Lucien Freud – paid tribute to her on Instagram alongside photos of the party.
The snaps showed Allen smiling as she hugged a friend, chatting to guests, and the group sitting at tables set out in a picturesque walled garden and decorated with flowers.
Boyt wrote: “The birthday of my god-daughter @lilyallen. What a woman. Obviously at her christening when I stood there in the church with my fingers crossed behind my back and swore that I loved God and nobody smote me with their sword or whatever I had no idea that that small beloved child was going to turn into such a marvel.
“Still as beloved, still as beautiful, still as creative, imaginative and bold. So happy to be on her team.”
Allen’s podcast host Oliver also shared a photo of her cake on Instagram, penning: “HAPPY 40th BIRTHDAY SCHMILLY BON BILLY!! We love you Lily. Hope we celebrated you good and proper.”
Following the breakdown of her marriage, Allen checked into a £10,000-a-week American clinic, reportedly in "emotional turmoil" and "highly medicated" on antidepressants.
Harbour is now reportedly dating 27-year-old model Ellie Fallon, who is 22 years his junior.
Allen is reportedly planning to return her two daughters - who she shares with ex-husband Sam Cooper - to a new school in London after previously enrolling them in New York.
