Lille give update on Manchester United transfer 'target' Nicolas Pepe

Lille president Gerard Lopez has admitted prized asset Nicolas Pepe will leave the French club in the summer transfer window.

Manchester United are one of several clubs rumoured to be targeting the Ivorian and Lopez has confessed the French club will be unable to turn down a big money offer for their star attacker.

The 23-year-old has been a revelation for Lille this season and has helped propel the historic club from last season's disaster - in which they were a point away from being relegated - to this season in which they sit second in the table and should qualify for the Champions League.

Pepe plays out on the wing but even so has an incredible goal return this season with 18 goals to his name.

He's higher in the charts than Edinson Cavani and Neymar and is only behind Kylian Mbappe in the rankings.

In all competitions he has scored 19 goals and racked up 12 assists.

It's little wonder that Pepe is attracting interest from some of Europe's major clubs and Lopez has resigned himself to seeing him leave North France in the transfer window.

"Four or five players will be leaving this summer. The departure of Nicolas Pépé is certain,” Lopez told Telefoot.

“He enters a price range that can not be refused anymore. He will have the choice.”

Pepe is still under contract at Lille until 2022, however, so it will likely take a big money move for the club to part with their top goal scorer.
