Lil Wayne has revealed that he is taking seizure medication. The rapper told MTV News that the drugs are part of a new health regime, which also includes drinking four bottles of water a day.
"I don't want y'all to think I'm on nothing, man," Wayne said. "I'm on seizure medicine, man, that's all."
Wayne's announcement follows reports last month that the 30-year-old suffered two seizures while travelling in a private jet. Despite two separate incidents within 48 hours, and corresponding hospital visits, the rapper's publicists insisted that reports of seizures were "inaccurate". Wayne, they said, was suffering from severe migraines brought on by dehydration.
This week, Wayne also announced a new release date for his much-delayed album I Am Not a Human Being 2. Original planned for later this year, the record is now due on 19 February 2013. "I'm gonna tour right after the album drops and I'm gonna tour all year round worldwide," Wayne said. The rapper's last album, 2011's Tha Carter IV, has sold more than 4m copies.
