Lil Wayne forced to cancel European visit

For the second time in two years, Lil Wayne has cancelled a European visit. After axing a 2009 jaunt due to illness, the rapper has reportedly called off a string of summer dates following the denial of his UK visa application.

The rapper spent much of last year behind bars, serving eight months for weapon possession charges. The UK Border Agency rejected his application because of his criminal record, which also includes assorted drug charges since 2007. However, Lil Wayne currently claims to be sober: "My sweat taste different," he recently told MTV. "My sweat used to taste like weed. But now it's just, I'm like, I don't know what it is."

Lil Wayne last toured Europe in 2008, playing about a dozen dates, including gigs in London and Leeds. "They knew the words to my songs," he said at the time. "[It's] a big surprise to know that [Europeans] actually understand what I'm talking about, because you have to know what I'm talking about to say it."

In 2009, however, he cancelled an entire European tour owing to illness after a doctor ordered him to rest due to an ongoing migraine.

Though Lil Wayne had only confirmed one European date so far this summer, at the Live at the Marquee festival in Cork, Ireland, he had been expected to perform at several major festivals.
