Lil Nas X made a bold fashion statement during the New York City Half Marathon by opting for style over practicality. The popular rapper, known for hits like “Old Town Road” and “Industry Baby,” took on the race wearing Coach’s Distressed High Top Sneaker in white, a pair that is currently sold out on the brand’s website but available on Amazon for $162.25.
Despite his lack of experience in long-distance running, with no prior runs exceeding three miles, Lil Nas X decided to tackle the race, having never jogged outdoors before. Lacking appropriate running shoes, he made a last-minute decision to wear the Coach sneakers after finding a sneaker shop closed.
Completing the race in 2 hours, 32 minutes, and 53 seconds, according to the New York Road Runners race results, Lil Nas X showcased his determination and style on the track.
In a collaboration with Coach in December 2023, Lil Nas X released a limited edition Y2K-inspired collection. The line featured pieces from the Coach Winter 2023 collection, including brightly colored shearling coats, bags, and shoes adorned with graphics inspired by the artist’s tour merchandise, his pet cat, and his zodiac sign, Aries.
Having become a Coach ambassador in 2022, Lil Nas X has been known for his bold fashion choices, including wearing custom designs from the brand, such as skirts, during his “Long Live Montero” tour. Reflecting on his experience, he shared how wearing Coach on stage helped him feel empowered and liberated, even in the face of initial nervousness.
