Likud Members Accuse Lieberman of Corruption

Avigdor Lieberman, head of the Russian Jewish party, Yisrael Beiteinu, has accused the Likud of seeking to tarnish his reputation and implicate him in a mock corruption case.

Lieberman said this was a part of seeking revenge for his political stance and warned that his response will be in kind.

Judicial sources revealed that the police are investigating suspicions about Lieberman's bank accounts or those under aliases for those working for him abroad.

By law, Lieberman must come forth about these accounts in order to pay his share of taxes.

Lieberman strongly denied accusations of tax evasion, and said members of the Likud party are making such accusations in response to his departure from the right and refusal to back Benjamin Netanyahu in forming the next Israeli government.

During the election campaign, close associates of Lieberman and Netanyahu exchanged threats, with each side saying that it kept corruption-related files against the other.
