HYDERABAD: Former convenor of the All India OBC MPs Forum V Hanumanth Rao on Sunday appealed to all the like-minded parties to extend their support for Rahul Gandhi as the prime ministerial candidate of the anti-BJP parties alliance.
The former Congress MP welcomed the decision of Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar who said he has no problems with Congress pushing for Rahul Gandhi as prime ministerial candidate for the next general elections.
“Even Lalu Prasad Yadav has supported the proposal to project Rahul Gandhi as the PM candidate. All the anti-BJP parties should come together and stitch up a grand alliance to defeat the BJP in 2024-Lok Sabha elections,” he said.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has failed to fulfil his promises of giving 2 crore jobs every year, bringing back black money, depositing Rs 15 lakh into bank accounts of the poor. On the other hand, the Modi-government has failed to keep the prices of LPG gas, diesel, petrol and essential commodities under control. What’s more, GST has been levied even on food products, pencils and stationery items of school children, alleged Hanumanth Rao.
“Rahul Gandhi has taken up a historic pada yatra from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. He is listening to the problems being faced by the people of the country during his Bharat Jodo yatra. Rahul Gandhi is trying to keep the country united against the hatred politics of BJP. He would prove to be one of the best prime ministers for the country,” Hanumanth Rao said.
