'Like being on FIFA' - Rio Ferdinand names Liverpool player as best in Premier League

Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand has described Mohamed Salah as the best player in the Premier League.

Salah made yet more headlines at the weekend with a man of the match performance in Liverpool’s draw with Manchester City.

The Egyptian scored a sublime individual goal and provided an assist for Sadio Mane, as the Reds had to settle for a point in the 2-2 draw at Anfield.

Sunday’s goal took Salah’s tally for the Premier League this season to six, and nine in all competitions.

Ferdinand has argued that Salah is currently the best player in the Premier League, despite his affection for his old club Man United making it a difficult claim for him to make.

“He’s the best player in the Premier League right now. It’s bunning my chest talking like this about a Liverpool player,” Ferdinand said on his Youtube channel Vibe on Five.

“[His goal} was like being on FIFA, that chop, I’ve done that many times on Fifa where you pretend to whip it top corner and then you chop it back. Playground skills.

“Salah is scoring goals that is helping Liverpool win Premier League and Champions League titles,” Ferdinand added.

Ferdinand went on to praise Liverpool for their second half response against Man City, describing them as a “different animal” following a half-time talk from Jurgen Klopp.

“What I like about Liverpool was they started terribly, and they reacted at half time, came out a different animal,” said Ferdinand.

“The first half Liverpool couldn’t get out and City could have had two or three [in the] first half.

“I think City will be disappointed not to win and Liverpool happy with a draw.”
