Like an 'alien invasion': People stunned by bizarre skies over Manchester after day of sun and snow

After another example of experiencing four seasons in a day, it was the sky over Manchester that got people talking this evening.

Pictures taken across the city showed a stunning scene, as it appeared the clouds were caving in.

One tweet even compared the scene to 'an alien invasion'.

While a tweet accompanying another picture read: "Manchester sky. Over Newton Heath.. how amazing."

It came after a day which featured glorious sunshine and also snow showers.

Snow cut short Lancashire's first cricket game of the season, with Old Trafford turning into a wintry scene at the start of April.

The weather is expected to be more settled tomorrow, with sunny intervals forecast and temperatures expected to reach a high of 7C.

Temperatures are expected to reach double figures as the week progresses.
