'Like a rollercoaster' - Christian Eriksen & Son Heung-min sum up Spurs' dramatic Man City clash

Tottenham Hotspur star Christian Eriksen has described the emotions of playing a remarkable match against Manchester City in the Champions League.

The two sides exchanged five goals over 21 first-half minutes, before Sergio Aguero put City ahead for the first time in the tie in the second half.

Fernando Llorente bundled home an equaliser for Spurs on aggregate though and Tottenham’s spot in the semi-finals was sealed in dramatic style after Raheem Sterling saw a match-winning goal ruled out for offside by VAR right at the death.

Eriksen, who conceded possession for that dramatic moment, was notably relieved that his mistake did not prove to be costly in a game that he summed up as being a rollercoaster ride.

'No quadruple!' - Manchester United fans thank Spurs for keeping their treble safe from Man City

“I think I must be one of the luckiest guys on the planet today. With the last ball they scored and I thought it was over,” he told BT Sport after the match.

“Thank God for the first time that the ref gave an offside. The whole game was like a rollercoaster. There were goals, goals, goals, goals and drama everywhere. It was a fun game to play but I’m lucky to be on this side.

"It was a rollercoaster because they had a chance, they scored; we had a chance, we scored. Even at 2-1 up and afterwards they came back.

“We gave them a lot but also got a lot and it was a weird game to play because you could expect anything, really.”

Two-goal hero Son Heung-Min echoed the comments from Eriksen, describing an ‘unbelievable night’ for the Lilywhites.

“With this big a competition, with the Champions League, I never saw anything like it,” he said.

Son Heung-min hands Spurs major concern over Champions League semi-final chances against Ajax

“Actually, it was a very tough game, a very crazy game but we are very proud of our teammates and I think this is an unbelievable night.”
