'Like a home to me' - Adam Webster's goodbye message to Bristol City fans after completing move to Brighton & Hove Albion

Adam Webster's elegant strides into midfield, perfectly-timed challenges or match-winning headers will be a memorable but unfortunately small footnote in Bristol City history after he completed his transfer to Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Webster has signed a after a fee in the region of £20m was agreed and he travelled south on Friday to undergo a medical and discuss personal terms just 12 months having signed for the Robins from Ipswich Town.

In that short space of time, however, Webster endeared himself to the Robins faithful with his intelligent and modern style of defending which saw him form one of the best defensive partnerships outside the top flight alongside Tomas Kalas.

City fans must now watch from afar as the 24-year-old continues his development but such was the impact he made at Ashton Gate and the supporters made on him, the two will always be intrinsically linked.

And after completing his return to the south coast, and spent his formative football years at Portsmouth, Webster posted a farewell message on Twitter.

It read: "To everyone at Bristol City football club. Although I was only at the club for just over a year, from the moment I walked in it was like a home for me and I can't thank anyone enough for that.

"The gaffer and all his staff have helped me become the player I am now and I'm so grateful.

"The best group of lads I have had the pleasure of sharing a changing room and I've made friends for life.

"To all you fans who have given me huge support along the way, thank you, best of luck for this season and I hope it can end with promotion."

Webster also spoke fondly of his time at Bristol City on Brighton's official website as he was unveiled a Seagull.

“From the moment I walked in at Bristol City, I fell in love with the place, because it is a great club," he said. "It was disappointing that we couldn’t get into the play-offs, but personally, it was a good season and I have really fond memories from my time there."
