The Ligue 1 season is set to be cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak across France.
Prime Minister Edouard Philippe will confirm that all football games – even those behind closed doors – will not be allowed to take place before August.
French football is now expected to try and restart in August with the French Professional Football League planning to meet in May to decide on how the tables for this season should be defined and which teams will be promoted and relegated.
Just last week, the LFP announced plans for Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 to resume on June 17, with UEFA setting a deadline of August 2 for domestic leagues to be completed.
However, in his latest briefing on Tuesday afternoon, Philippe is set to confirm that no football will take place until August.
Over in Germany, the Bundesliga recently confirmed plans to return to action on May 9 behind closed doors.
But in Holland, the Eredivisie last week became the first major league in Europe to cancel their season, with it announced on Friday that no league champions, relegation or promotion within the top-two divisions of Dutch football would take place as a result of the decision.
The Premier League, meanwhile, is currently working on plans to return behind closed doors at the beginning of June.
