A North Belfast schoolboy has achieved the highest AQE grade in Northern Ireland.
Arjun Suresh, a pupil at Saint Vincent de Paul PS, Ligoniel, was recognised by the exam board for achieving a top mark of 130 in the transfer test.
The Primary 7 student from Mrs Walsh's class was presented with an award by AQE Chief Executive Dr Darrin Barr in front of his peers at the school assembly on Wednesday.
Teacher at the school Mrs McGrath who also tutored Arjun said he was more than deserving of his 'incredible' result.
"Arjun is such a quiet wee boy, very unassuming there would be no cockiness or anything from him, he's just so clever.
"He comes from a lovely family as well, his older brother was quite clever too and did quite well when he came through the school. "
The 11-year-old worked long hours in preparation for the test and says he wants to be a doctor.
Mrs McGrath added: "This wee boy put in so much work to achieve his incredible result, he was getting up very early mornings doing test papers and I did say to him I was worried about him getting up at 6 in the morning to do test papers but he said 'no I really want to because I really want to be a doctor, I want to do something amazing in my life', and he will.
"He was delighted with his award and he got a wee voucher and I think his mum did too and the school got a lovely certificate school to say he got the highest mark so it's definitely something to be celebrated.
"He has family out in India so they're going out there for nine days and I'd say there will be some celebrations and rightly so."
