'Lightweight' - Nottingham Forest need to look again at key area of the team

Nottingham Forest secured their first point under Steve Cooper as they drew 1-1 with Millwall on Saturday.

We discussed the game on this week's Garibaldi Red podcast with Matt Davies, Mikey Clarke and former BBC Radio Nottingham presenter Robin Chipperfield.

We also discussed the Reds midfield and whether they need a third person in the middle after James Garner and Ryan Yates found it a tough battle against Millwall.

Here is a transcript of part of the conversation. You can listen to the full episode here, or watch it here.

Can Steve Cooper's team without controlling the centre of midfield?

MC: "If we look back to the Lamouchi times where we had Samba Sow with Watson and Silva we look impenetrable.

"It was too nice from our midfield on Saturday. They were bullied.

"Garner is a fantastic player and Yates is useful. If you don't have a Sow or a Paul McKenna in with them it worries me.

"It's getting that mix right and I'm not sure what the answer is within the squad. I'm not sure Cafu is the answer. Can Garner and Yates work in this formation? It's a bit lightweight.

"We were overrun by experience and know how. It's one to address in January.

"I like Yates. He's this generation's Ben Osborn.

"There's a place for him. He's not 19 or 20 now so I hope he kicks on and can be a dominant force in the centre of the park."

What's your take on Yates, Robin? He always divides opinion

RC: "Tell me one manager he's played under who has left him out for any spell. There isn't one.

"Those managers know more about the game than me, they pick him and there must be a reason for that.

"I would imagine he'll play 40 games a season and I'd go with what those managers say."
