Candlelit gatherings are taking place in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Darwin, Hobart and Perth to urge action on the humanitarian crisis and to remember Aylan Kurdi, the Turkish boy who drowned last week. The vigils around the country echoed the scenes in February 2014 when similar gatherings were held for Reza Barati, an Iranian man who died following violent scenes at the Manus Island detention centre.
