Hamilton motorists are being urged to drive with caution as traffic lights at a busy roundabout were damaged after an accident – and are likely to be out of use for up to three days.
An incident on Motherwell Road last night has left the control box for the signals at the roundabout damaged.
And South Lanarkshire Council have said it is likely to be two or three days before they will be operational again.
Two people were taken to hospital as a precaution after a car turned onto its roof.
Signs indicating the signals are out of use are in place and give-way signs will also be used.
The junction will operate as a normal priority junction arrangement for roundabouts.
Head of roads and transportation services, Gordon Mackay, said: “We would ask everyone to take extra care when using this roundabout for the next few days.
“Thankfully as it is the summer holiday period, traffic volumes are lighter.
“Road users should obey the Highway Code and use the roundabout safely at all times and most importantly, be patient.”
Inspector Derek Hamilton of Hamilton Police said: “We received a call at 10.50pm on Wednesday, July 17, to a road traffic accident at Palace Grounds Road, Hamilton. On arrival the car was on its roof. Two people were taken to hospital as a precaution.”
