Lightopia adds woodland dining dome experience to its Heaton Park lantern festival

Lightopia, the award-winning festival of light, will return to Manchester next month with new and exciting attractions.

Lighting up Heaton Park from November 18, this year’s event promises a brand new ‘enchanting’ lantern and light festival, and a magical new dining experience.

The ‘dine in the light’ experience will give guests the opportunity to eat amongst the woodland of Heaton Park, surrounded by lanterns in a private dome.

The domes seat up to six or 12 guests, with a time limit of 90 minutes.

Throughout the night, there are three time slots available for dome dining, 5pm, 6.30pm, or 8pm, and pre-booking is essential.

A seasonal three-course meal has been created by three-rosette chef Chris Holland, former head chef of the Alderley Edge Hotel, and The Life Cafés & Resorts Culinary Team.

Dishes will include cheese fondue, roasted pumpkin soup, hanging kebabs, sticky beef short rib and vegan buffalo cauliflower wings.

The dessert menu has a strong Mancunian flavour, featuring a Manchester trifle with Vimto Jelly, a 'Heaton' Mess with baked peaches, and a Lancashire cheeseboard.

The Stables Courtyard Bar and Dining will also be offering food, drink and music, in a slightly more casual venue. While it is outdoors, the heated courtyard is covered by a canopy.

Here you can pick from a variety of food and drink outlets occupying converted vintage horseboxes, including stone-baked pizzas, soft shell tacos, and festive cocktails.

Children are not forgotten at Lightopia with a magical Pirate Banquet just for them.

Let them dine off of a pirate ship inside a magical dome, with a choice of pizza by the slice, fish goujons and sweet potato fries, cheese bites, and fruit and veg.

Their drinks will be just as festive with a Captain’s hot cocoa or a strawberry lemonade.

Lightopia will be open to the public from Thursday November 18 until Monday January 3.

The event is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, except during school holidays. Christmas Day is closed. Opening times are between 5pm to 10pm, and last entry is 8.30pm daily.

Advance tickets are priced at £20.00 for adults (or £22.00 on the day), £13.00 for children (or £15.00 on the day). For more information, click here .
