STOCKHOLM, Sweden _ Teams look to the fourth line for energy and checking. The Lightning's fourth line did that on Saturday _ and most of the team's scoring.
Pat Maroon scored twice and Yanni Gourde had another, his second in two days, as the Lightning beat the Sabres, 5-3, and swept the weekend NHL Global Series.
Buffalo struck first in the game with Sam Reinhart scoring his third goal of the weekend, but the fourth line responded late in the first period. Gourde took a one-touch pass from Kevin Shattenkirk and took an awkward sideways shot on net. Maroon tipped it past goalie Carter Hutton to tie the game up.
Early in the second period, Victor Hedman scored on a power-play one-timer to give the Lightning the lead.
Maroon added to it with three seconds left in the frame. Shattenkirk put a shot on net and Maroon and Gourde followed it to the net. They both batted at the puck before it could settle, Maroon got there first.
Victor Olofsson scored Ornskoldsvik's second goal of the game, beating his neighbor Hedman and Alex Killorn on his way to the net, cutting the lead back to one goal.
Gourde added an insurance goal, chipping the puck past Hutton off a faceoff. Mathieu Joseph added another less than a minute later, scoring on Killorn's rebound.
Jack Eichel got one more for Buffalo with 37.3 seconds left, but the Lightning's lead was safe.
