CHICAGO _ A record-setting second period lifted the Lightning to a dominant 6-3 victory over the Blackhawks on Sunday night at the United Center.
The Lighting had 33 shots on goal in the second, the most since the NHL began keeping track of stats by period in 1997-98, and Anthony Cirelli, Yanni Gourde and Brayden Point scored to break a 1-1 tie.
Alexandre Fortin's breakaway goal in the first period for the Blackhawks was the first of his career and briefly tied the score. David Kampf and Nick Schmaltz added their first goals of the season late in the third to complete the scoring for the Hawks.
The Hawks dropped to 4-2-2 while losing their second straight home game.
