Lightning fall to Predators, 4-1

TAMPA, Fla. _ The Lightning have proven they can come back from a two-goal first-period deficit before.

See Tuesday's victory over New Jersey.

The Lightning trailed 2-0 once again to start the game against Nashville on Thursday, but this time Tampa Bay didn't score eight goals and they lost 4-1.

They mustered only one against the NHL's top team in points as Nashville goaltender Pekka Rinne returned in impressive fashion after a five-game absence.

He stopped 23 of 24 shots faced to improve to 8-0-1 all-time against the Lightning.

Predators center Calle Jarnkrok sealed the win for his team with a third goal late in the third period.

Here's how Nashville scored its two third-period goals:

Nashville 3, Tampa Bay 1: Jarnkrok scored his third goal of the season off a two on one.

Nashville 4, Tampa Bay 1: Nashville right wing Mikka Salomaki scored an empty-net goal with 2:24 left. The Lightning pulled goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy after he gave up the third goal.
