Lightning end losing streak with win over Nashville

NASHVILLE _ The Lightning needed overtime to do it but they ended their losing streak at three games with a 3-2 win over Nashville on Tuesday.

They didn't trail in regulation, but couldn't pull out the win. Nikita Kucherov took care of it in overtime, tipping in a pass from Mikhail Sergachev with 2:25 left in the overtime.

Victor Hedman got the Lightning on the board first. The defenseman took a shot from the point that deflected off the skate of Craig Smith and wobbled its way past goaltender Pekka Rinne, at 7:46 of the first period.

The goal continued Hedman's point streak against the Predators. He now has two goals and an assist in the last three games against Nashville.

Calle Jarnkrok tied the game up for the Predators at 6:13 of the second period. He flung the puck on net as he turned and it got past Andrei Vasilevskiy, who was partially screened by Sergachev.

The tie only lasted 29 seconds. Ondrej Palat put the Lightning back on top on one-timer from the slot, set up by Kucherov

The goal was Palat's ninth of the season. He now has more goals in 25 games this year than he did in 64 last season.

Kyle Turris tied the game back up in the third period with a power-play one-timer from the left circle.

The Lightning was scoreless on the power play, including one of their worst of the season. Ryan Johansen was given a five-minute major and game misconduct for an elbow to Brayden Point's head (Point left the game briefly, but returned). Not only did the Lightning not score on the ensuing power play, but they were also out-shot by the Predators 5-1.
