Adelaide Lightning have snapped a six-game WNBL losing streak with a 76-65 victory over the Sydney Flames.

Captain Steph Talbot and Dallas Loughridge scored 19 points apiece while Sania Feagin added 11 as the Lightning took control from quarter-time onwards at the Adelaide's State Basketball Centre on Tuesday night.

Shaneice Swain posted 20 points for the Flames, whose two-game winning run came to an end, while Agnes Emma-Nnopu contributed 18 and Keely Froling 17.

Swain buried three treys in a 13-point first-quarter, which Talbot finished with a three-point play at the other end to square the scores at 23-all at the first break.

"Offensively, we had some stagnant points but I would say 80-85 per cent of the time we were doing what we wanted to do," Lightning coach Aja Parham-Ammar said.

"Defensively, we were communicating, we were rotating, playing through mistakes.

"I'm happy with the win. I'm excited."

Loughridge and Talbot caught fire with a succession of triples to stun Sydney in the second term.

Adelaide started the quarter on a 15-2 tear - for an overall 18-2 run - to streak ahead 38-25.

Swain hit her fourth from deep to cap a 7-0 Flames response but the visitors were otherwise out of sorts, outscored 23-13 for the quarter to trail 46-36 at halftime.

Sydney hit an anaemic 4-of-15 from the field for the term, including 1-of-9 from long range, while being out-rebounded 13-6 after Keely Froling had earlier owned the boards.

Sharne Robati fouled out in the third period after an unsportsmanlike incursion on Froling as the scoring dried up at both ends.

The Flames narrowly won the scrappy quarter 13-12 to close the difference to 58-49 at the final change.

But the Lightning burst out of the blocks after the last break with a 7-0 rush, highlighted by another Talbot three-pointer, to sprint to a game-high 16-point lead.

"That second quarter for us, just some really key turnovers at pivotal times to go down 10," Sydney coach Renae Garlepp said.

"We couldn't fight our way back from that one."
