TAMPA, Fla. _ This time the Lightning completed the comeback. Once again, Tampa Bay entered the third period facing a deficit. The Lightning scored three goals to beat Boston, 5-4.
Anthony Cirelli was the night's hero. He landed the game-winner with 52.2 seconds to play. Cirelli took a one-timer, set up by Mathieu Joseph, from the left hashmarks, which his body facing toward the near boards.
Nikita Kucherov tied the game up with 6:45 left on a play that started with Andrei Vasilevskiy. The goalie made a big pad save on Brad Marchand, who had already scored twice. The rebound deflected halfway up the boards, which Steven Stamkos collected and tipped up to Nikita Kucherov already at the red line.
Stamkos caught up with Kucherov and the two were alone with Zdeno Chara between them and Tuuka Rask. Kucherov landed a shot over Rask's shoulder and celebrated with a massive fist pump.
Early in the period, Victor Hedman made a nice move to bring the Lightning back within a goal. Stamkos had a breakaway, but his shot landed wide. Hedman, trailing Stamkos, met the puck as it bounced back out to the goal line. Coming in with speed, Hedman collected the puck on his backhand, to bring it up off the goal line and then switched to his forehand to tuck it around the post.
