Lighthouse Cinema to screen The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert in aid of Australian Red Cross

A Dublin cinema is set to screen a classic move filmed in Australia with all proceeds going toward helping those battling the devastating wildfires.

The Lighthouse Cinema in Smithfield is going to show The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, on Australia Day on January 26.

And the special screening will see all proceeds raised donated to the Australian Red Cross.

The Red Cross is one of the multiple organisations that has been helping people and wildlife as the devastating fires grip Australia over the last few weeks.

A state of emergency has been declared across much of Australia's southeast and more than 100,000 people have been told to leave their homes across three states.

The fires have already claimed the lives of at least 20 people, with dozens more missing.

More than 500 million animals have died and the hellish conditions have seen more than 1,400 homes destroyed.

Tickets for the screening cost €13 and can be bought here.
