The large space of River Park in front of the iconic Iconsiam has been transformed into a captivating magical carpet for "Bangkok Illumination At Iconsiam" which is running until Jan 31.

Held to celebrate the festive season, this is the first time in Thailand to see the largest interactive multimedia mapping, or floor mapping, ever created by world-renowned French artist Miguel Chevalier who pioneers in digital and virtual arts.

Called Magic Carpet Bangkok, the creation applies advanced lighting technology to feature exquisite art that incorporates Thai patterns and national identity in an interactive way that encourages visitors to step out of the reality into the virtual world. The mapping projection runs daily from 6pm until Dec 27. It will make a comeback next year from Jan 5-31.

The event also features the longest line of Thai-style Christmas trees stretching more than 400m along the riverfront. The sparkling trees are inspired by lotus to represent the worship of the river, and the banana leaf cone or Bai Sri which symbolises the gesture of presenting a new-year's gift to all visitors.

There will be two rounds of the "River Of Life, River Of Art" performance on every weekend starting at 6pm and 8pm throughout this month. On Christmas Day, a troupe of Santas and Santarinas will give away cookies of happiness around the shopping mall at 1pm, 3pm, 6pm and 8pm. Then they will be singing at the River Park at 6.40pm and again at 8.40pm.

Set to render excitement with their beats throughout January will be a parade of drummers who will perform under "The Colourful Rhythm" concept.
