BHUBANESWAR: Odisha would receive light to moderate rainfall for the next four-five days under the influence of a system in the Bay of Bengal.
A low-pressure area, which formed over the Andaman Sea last week, moved towards the Bay and intensified into a depression. On Friday, it crossed the north Tamil Nadu and adjoining Andhra Pradesh coasts between Puducherry and Chennai.
The India Meteorological Department forecast said a trough line, which runs from the cyclonic circulation associated with the depression, would trigger rainfall in the state.
The south Odisha districts would mostly witness light to moderate rainfall on Saturday and thereafter such activity would extend to the rest of the state from Sunday. The possibility of rainfall would decrease by November 24 or 25, the forecast said.
H R Biswas, scientist and head of the regional IMD centre, said light to moderate rainfall would continue all over the state on Sunday and Monday ( November 21 and 22). The capital may also receive rainfall during this period. He said the chance of rainfall would decrease gradually by November 24-25.
Biswas said the minimum temperature would rise by two-three degrees Celsius all over the state because of rain and cloudy weather.
Director of the Centre for Environment and Climate at Siksha O Anusandhan deemed to be university, Sarat Chandra Sahu, said clear skies may prevail in the state gradually from November 24. The night temperature would also decrease again from November 25.
