Light of My Life trailer: Casey Affleck directs film depicting world with no women

The trailer for Casey Affleck's next directorial effort has been released – and it depicts a world in which women have been wiped out of existence.

Affleck also stars in Light of My Life, which follows a father attempting to save his daughter from a plague that has killed the world’s female population.

The film premiered at the Berlin international Film Festival earlier this year, following which Affleck faced the press for the first time after settling lawsuits accusing him of sexual harassment and misconduct.

Some expressed scepticism of the film's plot, seemingly questioning whether he was the right person to tackle the subject in a post-#MeToo age.

“I wrote this movie and made this movie before all of those things became part of the conversation,” Affleck said, adding: “I hope people keep their minds open and be responsible and measured in their reactions. And people can talk for themselves. It’s not something I can control.”

Light of My Life also stars Elisabeth Moss and Anna Pniowsky, whose performance in the film has been described as "astonishing".
