Light it up: Instagram’s fashion set are loving these pretty candles

There is an arsenal of ubiquitous objects which users of Instagram are familiar with witnessing on the ‘gram.

Recently, social media feeds have been awash with black and white selfies of women, people eating out to help out and more paid partnerships than an influencer could shake a stick at.

But more recently, there’s been a breed of flaming hot articles which have been gaining ubiquity; candles.

It would be remiss to deny candles their moment, Instagram’s latest frisson with tablescaping – the art of setting your table – has elevated their status from a flame with dispels bad smells to the light and decoration source du jour.

This candle is one of those interior pieces that I saw, and couldn’t get out of my head. Lovely @olivecooke pointed me in the direction of @lexpott who is so talented, and so I bought a few, and he sent an extra as a kind gift and made my day - this one lives in my office now 🌞

The taper trend can be traced back to Lex Pott, a Dutch designer who launched his Twist paraffin wax candle earlier this year. And just like that, they – and many more of a similar ilk - were everywhere.

And then there's the breed of sculptural candles, which have been inspired by the female form. Trippy Tuesday's Body Positivity collection and Shropshire-based Belle Nous both specialise in crafting female-shaped vegan offerings which sell out almost instantaneously, while acclaimed artist Anissa Kermiche (of Love Handles vase fame) is selling female form-inspired candle holders (£145, buy now.)
