A light heavyweight fight has been added to UFC on ESPN+ 19.
Former LFA champion Ryan Spann (16-5 MMA, 2-0 UFC) and former RFA champion Devin Clark (10-3 MMA, 4-3 UFC) will square off at the October event.
Two persons with knowledge of the situation told MMA Junkie of the booking. They asked to remain anonymous since the UFC has yet to make an official announcement.
UFC on ESPN+ 19 takes place Oct. 12, though a venue and location have not been made official by the promotion. The event reportedly will take place at Chase Center in San Francisco and will stream on ESPN+.
Spann, 27, is riding a six-fight winning streak entering the bout. The Fortis MMA product earned a UFC contract on Season 2 of Dana White’s Contender Series when he choked out Argentina’s Emiliano Sordi in a mere 26 seconds.
In his UFC debut in September 2018, Spann won a unanimous decision in Brazil against Luis Henrique. No judges were needed in Spann’s sophomore appearance, when he knocked out Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in less than three minutes.
His opponent, South Dakota’s Clark, has won two out of his past three bouts. After defeating Mike Rodriguez at UFC 223, Clark squared off with surging light heavyweight Aleksandar Rakic. While he had success early in the fight, Clark was hit with a fight-ending spinning backfist and punches late in Round 1.
In his last outing at UFC on ESPN+ 11, Clark beat Darko Stosic by unanimous decision.
