Lifting lockdown - public suggests opening gyms, allowing weddings and closing the border

The Scottish Government wants the public to have its say on the best ideas to lift lockdown.

They've asked for thoughts, concerns and ideas before taking "the next steps to navigate to a new normal".

An online forum has been set up to give the entire country an opportunity to comment on official proposals and as well as suggesting their own.

This comes after Nicola Sturgeon emphasised the need for transparency when she launched the Covid-19 decision-making yesterday.

Someone even suggested closing the Scotland England border (PA)

Quality of life, back to school, visiting other households and reopening businesses are among the most commented on suggestions so far.

Over 1000 threads have been started by members of the public posing their own questions

These featuring everything from allowing small weddings to go ahead, opening garden centres, gyms and even self-catering holidays.

While other threads include the closure of the Scotland/England border, using pubs and cafes as home working hubs, introducing a minimum spend in supermarkets, checking the purpose of car journeys and incentives for companies working from home.

The dialogue will be open in the first instance until 10pm on May 11.
