Lifetime Training Group to cut 300 jobs as pandemic bites

An apprenticeship provider in Bristol is reportedly planning to cut around 300 jobs as it battles with the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lifetime Training Group, which is based in Clifton and is England’s largest apprenticeship group, will see its workforce drop by up to a quarter, according to FE Week.

The group usually has 1,800 apprenticeship starters a month, according to FE, which reported that since the outbreak of coronavirus Lifetime Training has averaged around 350 starters a month.

Chief executive Alex Khan told the publication: “Lifetime’s workforce is built based on the number of learners that we have on programme and undertaking assessment.

“Following a period of significantly reduced apprenticeship enrolments combined with learners continuing to achieve their apprenticeships, we expect to see a downturn in learner numbers across the group while the economy rebuilds over the coming months.”

Lifetime Training has now reportedly entered a period of consultation with employees, with plans to cut between 20 to 25 per cent of roles.

The provider is among a number of training firms planning to make workforce reductions to stay afloat.

The company, which is based at Clifton Heights on Triangle West, was established in 1995 and has grown to become one of the largest training providers in the UK.

Its team of more than 1,200 support the delivery of award-winning apprenticeships and training courses to 20,000 learners a year around Britain.
