As it gets cooler, people are enjoying autumn fashion. Not only should you be conscious about clothes, but you should also pay attention to your hair. There are now various products to quickly cover up noticeable gray hairs around the hairline, such as hair mascaras and hair foundations, and you can find your favorite ones based on usability and their functions.
Temporary hair color
According to a survey by Shiseido Co., women use hair dye once every 44 days on average. Gray hairs around the hairline become noticeable about 24 days after dyeing the hair, on average. This is because hair grows about 1 centimeter a month, with variances among individuals.

"Temporary hair color" refers to hair mascaras and other products that cover up noticeable gray hairs until the hair is dyed. You can temporarily color your hair by using colorants and other coloring agents on the surface of the hair. These colorants easily wash out with shampoo and other agents.
Many companies have launched various new products of this kind, and the size of the market has been expanding, according to research company Fuji Keizai Co.
Soft texture
Kanebo Cosmetics Inc. launched the L'equil hair concealer in July. The mascara-type product can be easily placed inside a makeup bag. It comes with a hair comb that is equipped with a sponge at the base to absorb coloring agents.
Users can evenly apply the coloring agent to each individual hair by combing their hair, with a thin membrane being applied to the hair. The hair stays soft and does not become hard, even after the coloring agent has been applied.
Consumers can choose color variations at stores based on their skin tone and hair color -- the product comes in several shades of brown, such as beige brown and rose brown.
Can be used outside
Shiseido launched the Prior hair foundation in August last year. The product comes in a compact case, which can be easily carried around. Users simply use it when they are out, just like they would to touch up their makeup. The hairbrush can be used with a right or left hand, and the diagonally cut tip of the brush makes it easier for users to apply the brush to the hairline or the hair part. The company adjusted the balance of powder and oil so that the hair will quickly dry after the coloring agent is applied, while ensuring the hair stays shiny.
The company has shipped 1 million units in the year since the launch of the product, which surpassed the company's forecast. While the intended users are those in their 50s or older, many consumers in their 30s or 40s actually bought the product, according to Shiseido.
Meanwhile, Hoyu Co. totally renewed its Bigen Hair Mascara product and began selling the renewed product in March.
The new product is equipped with a function to gradually dye gray hair every time the product is used. If the product is used two to four times succesively, gray hair will become less noticeable, according to the company. The company says you can use it along with the Bigen Hair Color -- its product to dye gray hair -- after matching the color and brightness.
All of these products are sold by women's brands and all of them come in black, which may be also suitable for men.
