"On arrival, we were met with Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade who took the casualty to hospital."

A spokesperson from the TVLB added: "HM Coastguard tasked the brigade to provide shoreside assistance to Tynemouth RNLI as they were asked to transport two passengers from the Disney Magic Cruise Ship back to shore.

"One of the passengers had fallen while onboard the ship and sustained a suspected broken shoulder.

"Once the lifeboat safely brought the casualty back to their boathouse, the brigade consulted with HM Coastguard and the North East Ambulance Service and it was agreed to use the brigade vehicle to take the pair to a local hospital so that the casualty could receive further assessment and treatment."

The Disney Magic ship is due back in North Shields on Monday, September 6, Wednesday, September 8 and Saturday, September 11.
