Lifeboat called after lorry overturns on Scottish A-road

THE A77 south of Girvan is currently closed following a road traffic collision.

Emergency services have been called to the scene near Lendalfoot following reports of a lorry overturning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The A77 is closed between Girvan and Ballantrae due to lorry crash.

"Please avoid the area and allow extra time for your journey as the diversion routes will be busier with additional traffic.

"There are no reports of any injuries. Officers were called to the incident around 9.05am this morning."

The Girvan RNLI lifeboat was also called out to the scene just before 9.30am on Tuesday morning.

A spokesperson said: "This morning at 9.24am our volunteer crew were paged to launch our all-weather lifeboat to attend the scene of an RTC south of Girvan to conduct a waterside search.

"As our crew had already assembled at the station and were getting kitted up, the launch was cancelled as the casualty had been located and was being cared for by the medical teams on site."

An Amey spokesperson said: "A77 currently restricted North of Lendalfoot due to emergency services dealing with an overturned HGV."
