Life-size Game of Thrones statues made of cake go on display by Tower Bridge

If you’re already sharpening your Valyrian steel sword in fervent anticipation of the return of Game of Thrones, you might want to use it to cut a slice of these impressive cakes.

Three life-size sculptures made entirely out of cake, which depict figures bearing a distinct resemblance to characters from the famous TV show, have gone on display in London.

The three figures are at Potters Field near Tower Bridge and will remain there until Sunday, the day before the final season of Game of Thrones airs in the UK.

Created by food artist Michelle Wibowo as a publicity stunt for food brand Stork, the sculptures each took 300 hours to bake and decorate. Though painted to look like bronze statues, they're made from fluffy sponge. The tallest figure is 173cm tall and weighs 70kg – unfortunately, visitors to the attractions won't be able to eat them.

The baked creations are the doppelgangers of three of the surviving members of Game of Thrones’s Stark family – John Snow, Sansa Stark and Arya Stark – all of whom are in the running to take the throne and rule the Seven Kingdoms.

The highly anticipated eighth and final season of hit HBO television series Game of Thrones is due to air on UK television from April 15.
