Life On Mars stars confirms new series after 13 years - and which cast members may return

Life on Mars could be making a comeback after recent rumours, with actor Dean Andrews revealing episodes were currently being written for a third series.

The popular BBC show starring John Simm and Philip Glenister ended in 2007 after its second series, while it was never cancelled.

Writer Matthew Graham confirmed another series could be made in the future, if the team thought there was "something to say".

The time is now it seems, with recent reports and comments from Graham about a new series being in the pipeline.

Now, former star of the show Dean has confirmed it is very likely something will come of it.

Speaking on This Morning on Wednesday, the actor who currently plays Will Taylor in Emmerdale confessed new episodes were in discussion.

He revealed which cast members seemed keen in returning too, before hinting what the series could cover.

Dean said: "There's a very, very good chance of that happening.

"The writers Matt Graham and Ashley Pharoah are in the process of writing four or five episodes, and getting everybody back together who wants to come back.

"I believe Phil and John are very, very excited about it, Daniel Mays, myself... they are hoping everyone wants to come back, and they want to make the story back in the 70's and the 80's and the modern day.

"I’ve just got to try and beg Emmerdale at some point in my life, if they still want me."

Dean currently plays Will Taylor on Emmerdale and is at the centre of huge scenes, following a showdown with rival DI Malone.

But while it looked as though Will had hit Malone over the head with a wrench on Friday, the actor confessed it was all good editing to maintain social distancing guidelines.

He said: "There was actually [social distancing], but it came over brilliantly in the edit and looked like I was whacking him but I was miles away from him."

This Morning airs weekdays at 10am on ITV.
