Life in the Nottinghamshire village which is a 'lovely place to live'

Many villagers across Nottinghamshire would argue the live in the best location - but those in Cropwell Butler believe they have a stronger claim to the title than many.

Situated within the borough of Rushcliffe, it has conservation area status to protect the land and the village.

And people living there have described how the village has historic streets and is surrounded by greenery and rural homes, and have described how "the people are great".

Resident, Michelle Stevenson, 62, retired says she really likes living in Cropwell Butler and likes being out in the country.

“We are lucky because we have fields on our doorstep,” she said.

“We have some nice walks from here.

“We have the village pub which is always nice - it’s a good place to meet people.

“It has quite a good community feel in that sense.

“It’s a lovely place to live and we are lucky - it is quiet.

“I’ve made most of my friends through the village pub.

“I find everyone very friendly.”

Ms Stevenson added: “The good thing is that it is near to Bingham and not that far to get into Nottingham either, or Newark.

“It’s quite well placed and quite rural.

“There’s quite a lot of history - I’ve read a lot about the history.

“A lot of these old buildings - there’s a Post Office, there’s some history there and it has a plaque on it.

“It’s a house of historical interest.

“It’s really nice - I really like living here.

“I like being out in the country.”

Another resident Keith Reeves, 70, retired told Nottinghamshire Live that the people living in the village are nice.

Mr Reeves said: “I’ve been here for nearly 30 years - it’s nice.

“It’s good there’s quite a bit going on and you can join in if you want to and get involved.

“The people are nice.

“There’s plenty of walks around here and that sort of thing.

“They’re nice people - never have any problems so that’s nice.”
