Estonia's tourist board says the country is “positively surprising”, Latvia's tells us the country is “best enjoyed slowly” and Lithuania have recently launched a 'Likeable Lithuania' campaign on social media.
Are you resident in one of the Baltic states? We want you to help us go beyond the travel slogans and tell us about day-to-day life. What is it like to live and work in your country? Is there a particular tradition or culture you'd like to share? Maybe you have an alternative slogan or phrase that sums up your country better than any tourist board ever could?
The Guardian’s New East network which launched last week, aims to take a deeper look inside the post-Soviet world. Fifteen countries with a shared history in common, which, whether celebrated or lamented, informs what happens today. Some countries, most notably Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania, have expressed unhappiness about this grouping. We’d love to hear your thoughts on this too. Would you ever describe your country as post-Soviet, if not why not? Which geographical area do you most identify with?
