Life in new Nottinghamshire estate where a 'friendly community' has been built

Homeowners have praised life within a ‘friendly’ community on a brand new estate in Ruddington. Neighbours describe the Lace Fields development as ‘peaceful’ and described how they have ‘no regrets’ moving there.

Located off the A60 Loughborough Road, in Ruddington, developer William Davis will build up to 185 homes for the new development.

The development comprises a mix of two, three and four-bedroom houses. Residents, who recently moved into their properties, praised the estate for the community feel that it has.

Glenda Ferguson, 72, moved to the new estate in September, she said: “It’s very friendly. If there are any problems, a lot of people will help. There’s a lovely lady who has a community on Facebook. It’s just friendly, the actual feel of it is just really good. You feel safe. We moved from Hampshire and we feel here we are living in the country again.”

Bhavna Passon, 34, who moved to Ruddington from London, she said: “It’s quite nice, very peaceful. People are very considerate and polite. It’s nice. It’s just really nice and no one really bothers anyone.”

There are proposed plans for an additional 24 homes on the development site. If approved Bhavna said hopes the community will remain similar.

She added: “As long as it stays as it is, the types of families and people moving in.There’s a few young couples, young families and young professionals. I don’t mind as long as it’s the same community we've got here. I think it will be nice.”

Another resident, Jill McQueen, said: “It helps that we have a Facebook page, she welcomes people and every now and then there will be a meet up. It’s really nice. It’s got a really nice community feel. We’ve joined the park run. It's just a really great estate. We love it.”

Jan Porter moved to the area around nine months ago with husband Sam. Mrs Porter said: “It’s nice, it’s quiet and peaceful, we haven’t really got any neighbours at the moment. It’s really nice.

“When we go for a walk, everyone stops to chat, recognises you. For us we chose this estate because of the country park.”

A local, who asked not to be named, said: ”I do love it here. I’ve been here for six months. I’m quite happy that we moved here. The residents and everyone get on well, I have no regrets moving here.”

26-year-old Sam Davies added: “We’ve been here for 8 months, we absolutely love it. Everyone is very lovely and friendly. We have a community facebook page. We absolutely love it. “
