‘Life has changed forever’: Tributes pour in for ‘devoted’ dad killed in tragedy

The family of a cyclist killed in a tragic collision in Bolton say their life has been changed forever.

At around 5.20pm on Thursday (July 1), police were called to reports of a fatal collision on Edge Lane in Horwich between a light blue Saab 93 car and a cyclist.

Cyclist Kevin Harmon, 47, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death whilst disqualified from driving.

He has since been released under investigation.

Paying tribute, Kevin’s family said he was ‘much loved’ and a ‘friend to everyone he met’.

In a statement, the family said: "On the 1st July, life changed forever for the family and friends of Kev Harmon.

"A cyclist for over 25 years, Kev was riding with the wind in his face and the sun on his back when tragedy struck.

"A devoted family man, Kev leaves behind his wife Anne and their children Ewan and Grace.

“A much loved son to Pat and Tony, a loving brother to Rob and Andrew, a respected colleague and a friend to everyone he met.

"With a caring and easy going nature, Kev was quick to laugh and will be remembered by everyone for his big daft grin.

“His passing leaves a hole in the lives of so many."

Police are continuing to investigate and have appealed for anyone with information or dash-cam footage to get in touch.

Anyone with information can contact police on 0161 856 4741, quoting incident number 2272 of 1/7/21.

Reports can also be made anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
